five letters cinque lettere at Mildura Art Centre in November – opening event Saturday 23rd at 5pm

five letters cinque letters, includes over ten years of work made in Mildura and Melbourne. It includes the major works Chasing the Disappeared, Mother Tongue, Alpha Sound as well as sculpture and stitched works. The exhibition is accompanied by a comprehensive catalogue with an essay by Eliana Maestri, Senior Lecturer in Translation Studies, University of Exeter, UK.

The exhibition also includes a panel discussion, five chapters, cinque capitoli – The Italian Diaspora and Creative Collaboration with Eliana Maestri, Senior Lecturer in Translation Studies, University of Exeter, UK. Speaking collaboratively are Loredana Polezzi, Alfonse M. D’Amato Chair in Italian and Italian American Studies, Stony Brook University, USA and Luci Callipari-Marcuzzo, a multi-disciplinary artist, mother, researcher, arts worker, curator, and writer, based near Mildura, Victoria. As well as Fred L. Gardaphé, Distinguished Professor of English and Italian/American Studies at Queens College/CUNY and the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute in collaboration with Filomena Coppola.
