Where to From Here? This work seeks to draw the line and create a new starting point. A new beginning; crisp new light, fresh foliage and the beautiful whispers of butterflies, bees and other friendly bugs. It brings together the velvety nature of the pastels and the fine detail of the coloured pencil. Working with the insects and introducing the native blue banded bee, it is an exploration of nature; of the cultural historical contexts of wallpaper; the acknowledgment of a historical connection to women in the arts through Maria Sybilla Merian’s cicada; and the beginnings of new ideas forming for new works and a further exploration of working with coloured pencils.
